uPVC is ideal for energy-efficient homes. UPVC is an excellent thermal insulator, minimising the transfer between the interior and exterior of your house to a minimum.
How is my home more secure with Koffman?
The glass in our windows is fitted from inside the house, which means unlike other frames, the glass isn’t susceptible to burglars pulling the rubber seal and removing the glass from the outside and gaining entry without making noise.
Multipoint locking system: The turn of a handle locks the sash surrounding the window, unlike single latch windows in NZ. Our windows have min RC2 rating and RC3 – these are possible with specialised glass option.
RC2
All-round fitted system with octagonal locking bolts, steel keeps on the frame, lockable window handle and anti-drilling protection which ensures resistance to attempted break-ins.
RC3
Equipped with an even higher number of octagonal locking bolts at small distanced between locking points. RC3 can also withstand intensive burglary attempts with tools.
What glass is used
At Koffman, we use Planitherm XN, a premium European glass know for its exceptional performance and energy efficiency.
Argon-filled units and plastic spacers:
Our double and triple-glazed units use Low-e glass filled with argon gas and feature plastic spacers. Low-e (low emissivity) glass has a special coating that reduces the rate at which heat escapes from a building.
Your uPVC windows won’t degrade under the sun
The special formula of uPVC is UV resistant. Colours used are superior grade of 4 layers of vinyl coating to make it strong and UV resistant. We also offer aluminium clip-on frames which give a sleek and stylish aluminium look while creating an additional protective layer for the uPVC.

Q. What is the thickness of your double glazing?
24mm spacers are used between the panes of glass in double glazing, triple glazing uses 2 x 18mm spacers. Very few local window frames can support that.
Q. I like the look of aluminium but want uPVC?
We provide clip-on aluminium frames that give the look of aluminium with the benefits of uPVC.
Q. Can I replace existing windows with upvc?

No, quality varies. Inferior brands often lack UV stabilisers, leading to discolouration and poor performance. Koffman only supplies trusted, high-quality European brands.

The two systems are different and comparison needs to be based on the specific needs for each application. Both systems can be equally good regarding thermal performance. uPVC can be less expensive but may have size limitations when compared to aluminium which is a stronger material. Colour choices are also practically unlimited in aluminium.
